Mendel Introduction

Mendel is the Windows service which calculates and publishes the schedule plan of Jobs to Resources within a World in Optimise Schedule. You can define the Mendel Settings per World and prioritise which scheduling requirements are most important or necessary to your business needs. For example, you can configure the Repeat Access Mendel Settings so that Mendel is more likely to schedule multiple Jobs located at the same property to the same Resource, rather than several Resources which means multiple Resource visits to the same property on several occasions.

Do not edit the Mendel Settings in a live instance of Totalmobile without thoroughly testing your intended changes in a separate test environment beforehand. Editing the Mendel Settings in a live Totalmobile environment can drastically change the schedules which Mendel publishes to Worlds in Optimise Schedule.

The Mendel Settings user guide provides an overview of Calculation Scores, Initialisation and Mutation, and configuring the Mendel Settings.

Knowledge of Optimise Admin and Optimise Schedule is required to understand the concepts and impact of Mendel Settings. The following user guides are recommended:

  • Optimise Admin
  • Optimise Schedule
