GeoPal Modules
What is a Module?
A module is a way of configuring GeoPal to your needs with functionality that isn’t included in the standard version. It can bring your experience with GeoPal to the next level.
Modules are one of the newer features here in GeoPal. You can imagine the standard GeoPal mobile/ web app as a basis and modules as building blocks that you can add to make benefit the work that you do.
We differentiate between two kinds of modules: Mobile and Web.
The mobile module is used to add custom functionality to the mobile end of GeoPal. This opens the spectrum for custom user interfaces which allow you to interact with data stored inside and outside of GeoPal, but also do calculations or other things behind the scenes. Maybe you want the user to log times or enter data? Why not do it in a module with your own UI?
A web module is, as the name says, on the web-end of the GeoPal. Like the mobile module, it adds functionality to the current GeoPal view. It would typically be used by office staff. Would you like to create a more complicated report, that would normally be done manually, or need to see the progress of your projects? You have the whole web module world at your hands to create a user interface in the way you desire.

Can I have more than one Module in my account?
Yes, you can. You can have any number of modules in your account
Can any GeoPal user access the Module on my account?
Modules are grouped together in GeoPal and assigned to the users you choose.
Example:
Available Modules:
-
Web Module A
-
Web Module B
-
Mobile Module C
Group A:
-
Web Module A
-
Web Module B
Group B:
Web Module A
Group C:
Mobile Module C
The GeoPal user profiles (web, mobile, guest) do exist in this area too. Even if you allow a mobile user access to a web module, they wouldn’t be able to see it, as they do not have web access. The same rule applies to web users and mobile modules.
Additionally, you can publish a module to alpha, beta and production so that your developers, testers and office staff see versions meant only for them.
Do Modules appear on the Mobile App?
Mobile Modules appear on the GeoPal Platform app which is available on Android and Apple in the respective app stores Android Play Store and Apple App Store. Just search the app store for GeoPal Platform and you will find the app ready for download and installation.
To get access to the app and create an account, please contact us in GeoPal.
Once you have built a module and distributed it to the user, it can be visible to the user once he logs into the GeoPal Platform with an icon. A decision can be made whether a module is visible to the user or whether it only works in the background.
Are the Modules compatible with all devices/software?
The mobile GeoPal Platform app is available on Android (version 5 or above) and ios10.
The web modules are available on all current browser versions. We here in GeoPal recommend using Google Chrome to enjoy the best GeoPal experience.
How do I create a Module?
The development of a module (web or mobile) in GeoPal requires knowledge in HTML, JavaScript, CSS and GeoPal APIs. If you don’t have developers in-house, you can contact Totalmobile.
