Lone Worker Protection - Release 9.43
Release Date: 24 September 2026
Totalmobile has enhanced Lone Worker Protect (Protect) since the previous release, adding new features and addressing known issues to improve quality.
Some features could require additional set up by Totalmobile. Contact your Account Manager if you require access details.
These Release Notes cover the following:
What's New
- PROT-861/862/868 – Wi-Fi Positioning Services (WPS)
Introduces WPS for SOS Fob and SOS Cube 4G devices. As a result, these devices scan for nearby Wi-Fi access points and use this data to help determine their location.
The devices securely send Wi-Fi access point data to Google Location Services, which returns longitude and latitude coordinates to the Lone Worker Protect platform. The platform uses this feature solely to improve location accuracy, and it does not affect voice calling functionality.
The GPS Data Report displays the locations that have been calculated from Wi-Fi data with a Type of WPS. For more information, refer to GPS Data Report. Totalmobile enables this feature on a per-site basis. Contact your Account Manager for further information or to discuss enabling this feature for your solution.
- PROT-877 – Allowing Overlapping Geofence Locations
This enhancement only applies to customers who use geofence locations as part of their solution. This change does not affect customers who do not use geofencing.
Updates geofence locations to allow overlapping areas across different location types. Previous versions did not allow geofence locations to overlap with each other in the system. Locations within the same site (Site GPS Locations), GPS Profile, or Personal GPS Locations (such as within GPS Automate) that are assigned to a single user cannot overlap with one another.
However, site-level locations can overlap with the locations defined within a GPS Profile, or personal locations that have been assigned to an individual user.
When the platform detects a device within an area that matches multiple GPS locations, it applies the most specific location first using the following order of precedence:
-
Personal GPS Locations
-
GPS Profile Locations
-
Site GPS Locations
This ensures that the platform applies the GPS Location that closest matches the exact coordinates of the device to geofencing and areas within the platform, such as GPS reports, when a device falls within multiple location areas.
-
- PROT-905 – Data Take on V5 Auditing
Implements additional auditing within Version 5 of the Data Take-On Service. This enhancement provides Totalmobile with greater visibility of requests sent to the API and will assist with troubleshooting when required.
The platform does not enable this auditing continuously. Totalmobile only activates auditing on request and when it requires it for investigation or support purposes.
