Preference Groups

You need the Preference Groups permission to access this feature. For more details refer to Permissions.

Preference groups are a scheduling constraint used by Mendel to influence which resources are preferred for which jobs. Unlike banding groups or attribute matching, preference groups do not block allocations. They allow you to express a preference hierarchy between resources and jobs, scored via a bonus calculator.

You can assign a preference group to both jobs and resources, and each group is given a weighting per World. When Mendel evaluates a resource and job pairing, if the resource's preference group weighting is higher, a bonus is applied, making that resource a more attractive option for the job. The higher the weighting difference, the larger the bonus.

To use preference groups in a World, you must enable the Resource Preference Group bonus calculator in Mendel Settings. For more details of the relevant bonus calculators, refer to the Mendel User Guide.
