Mapping
You can configure mapping to allow elements within a form to pre-populate with default data from other elements when opened (mapping in) and/or export completed answers to populate another element upon submission (mapping out).
Example: you can include the Appointment Slot visit field in a form, so that if a visit time is rearranged, it updates the form to show the correct information.
There are four primary mapping sources:
-
Visit Header - maps standard job or visit fields, for example contact name and address, scheduled date, or special instructions. These values can only be mapped in.
-
Visit - maps additional properties attached to the visit, for example a Referral ID or an item code from a catalogue.
-
Task - maps properties scoped specifically to an individual task on a visit.
-
User - maps values from user attributes defined in WebAdmin, for example worker qualifications.
Mapping is only available for certain form controls, and the values that can or should be mapped depend on the control. When mapping is available, the Maintain element mappings
icon appears when you hover over the element.
For some elements, for example those using the Catalogue List Control or the Catalogue Element Control, you can specify a mapping source to map additional properties to the form. By selecting the additional properties parent as the mapping source, the associated child items are available in the Visit mapping for that element.
To configure mapping:
-
In WebAdmin, select Forms.
-
Select the form you want to edit.
-
Navigate to an element and select Maintain element mappings
. -
In the Update Element Mappings dialog:
-
Select the field for the type of source you want to map.
-
If options are available for the source type, select one from the dropdown. For example, if you select the Visit Header Mapping field, the dropdown includes all available standard visit fields. If you have defined a mapping source for the element, the Visit Mapping field dropdown contains the additional properties available from the mapping source.
-
If no dropdown options are available or you wish to create a new mapping option, enter the text you want to map. For example, if you are setting up repeatable sections, select the Visit Mapping field and enter the name of the element with properties you want to map.
-
-
If available for the mapping type, toggle the Direction to In, Out, or Both.
-
Select Add
. -
If required, repeat the above steps for any further element mappings.
-
Select Save.
In the Form Designer, the Maintain element mappings icon for that element displays the number of mappings that have been configured.
-
-
Save
and Publish
the form. -
Ensure the form is assigned to an application or visit task within a solution.
